daydreams

Project Description:

    daydreams is an international company with branches throughout Europe. We are involved in the development of the Italian website for daydreams. The quality of the performance of more than 3,000 hotels under daydreams is regularly monitored and published on the site and can be viewed on the hotel description page of each hotel. The website provides option to book any of these hotels online.

Objectives

Migration from Mambo to Joomla! : daydreams site was initially done in Mambo. We needed to migrate it to Joomla!.
   
Synchronize hotel details: Needed to generate script to synchronize hotel details in another database to our database. The data from remote database is sent as web service using whdl protocol. Then the data is parsed in our server using XML parser and is synchronized with our database.

Three types of hotel searches: We needed to bring three type of hotel searching features, namely Standard, Emotional and Google API.  

• Standard search: In standard search the user can navigate to a hotel in the order country, region, city. Option to filter based on months of functioning was also added later.
• Emotional search:  In emotional search random hotel images will be shown which change after a few seconds and on clicking on image goes to description page.
• Google Map Search: User can navigate to a hotel description page using the Google map provided in the site.

Hotel description page:  The hotel description page shows details of facilities, user feedback, rates, etc of a hotel.

Things available in the hotel page are:

• Images of the hotel
• Icons to show the facilities available in the hotel
• Dates of functioning and restaurant rates
• Climate details

Additional features like User Survey details, Recommend to a Friend,  Add to Favourites list were added later.

Newsletter Subscription: The Joomla! newsletter component, Letterman, was edited to merge to the application super mailer to bring the required newsletter functionality.

Community: The Joomla! community component profiler is used to develop the community option in the site. The community work is in the development phase. Additional plug-ins are being developed to bring the details like favourite hotels, hotels booked, etc, inside the community.
