A major European telecom provider, Swisscom, was in need of a web-based tool for managing, calculating and generating reports for order management and commission calculations for their dealers for handling mobile handsets. We provided three major modules and many medium-sized modules to the system:
The application manages different dealer types and is categorized for logical and mathematical calculations on the basis of certain set criteria. Dealers will be able to create requests for connections and the telecom provider processes the request and delivers the order quantity to the dealers. The application supports core order processing features such as forecasting, approval & delivery options, which involve complex logical and logistical operations. JSON and JSON-RPC were used for the interface manipulations. It involves a secure SFTP communication module scheduler task that connects the Delivery and Operations departments. Once the dealer makes an order, the details will be sent to the Delivery department through a secure communications path. The system performs the bonus calculation for dealers in real-time, based on the data entered by the dealers.
The reporting module generates reports of aggregated statistical data in a desired format like MS Excel. This module uses Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services to develop complex reports based on the data. Each report is developed on demand of the telecom provider. Each report can be generated on the screen or can be exported to a desired format like MS Excel.
