Overview

GTDF is a multilingual website for Geneva Trade & Development Forum with a CMS integrated for managing the contents. The overall objective was to build a CMS integrated website with common functionalities like registered user login, newsletter management, language management, theme management, glossary and a forum for the members to discuss on different themes.

Key Challenges

Since the client had limited IT knowledge, trying to understand their exact requirements and getting their approval were the foremost challenges faced during the initial phase.

Solutions

A considerable amount of time was allotted to researching websites in common domains and gathering functionalities implemented in these sites. A significant number of hours more than estimated were spent in project completion and training the clients on how to use the CMS. However, we succeeded in delivering a good website with a simple and easy CMS integration.

Client Gain/Feedback

Despite a delay in the delivery, all maintenance works and change requests were implemented as per schedule with a positive feedback from the client.

The Geneva Trade & Development Forum (GTDF) is now widely used as a platform to engage in an ongoing, substantive and open debate on trade and development challenges faced by poorer developing countries, where the various stakeholders active in trade and development interact freely, exchange their experiences and develop concrete and innovative solutions geared towards promoting pro-poor, pro-trade and pro-development strategies to better integrate developing countries in world trade and the international trading system.
