INTI

Overview

INTI is a new website based in Brussels, Belgium. It is meant to serve as an information resource to the major immigrant populations of nine European cities.

Business Need

The intent of the website is to render helpdesk services to the immigrant population about how to find work, housing, health services, education etc. The website features six categories that will fit into a graphic interface enabling the visitors to toggle between the languages offered by selecting one of the links at the top. The six modules are:

  • Welcome
  • Working
  • Learning
  • Living
  • Health
  • Community

In total, there will be 15 languages. Typically, cities will use 6 of them, which means each city-specific site contains an average of 6 different versions. In other words, this set of 9 sites under the INTI portal represents 9 permutations of the trillions of possible ways of ordering 1 - all 15 of the possible 15 languages.

Solutions

PITS executed a pilot project wherein 15 versions of the same portal for each of the 15 languages were developed. The translations were provided by the client. The most critical work was the creation of the content management system (CMS).

The highlights included are:

  • Custom-developed CMS build in PHP and JavaScript with FCK Editor integrated
  • Posting of services for those advertising their services or looking for a business opportunity
  • Posting of resumes for those seeking employment
  • Posting of openings for those offering employment
  • Language management
  • Calendar Management

Key Challenges

Client took time to finalise on the design template he wanted for the pages and it involved lot of rework.

Client Gain

PITS developed a cost-effective solution that was delivered within the planned time frame, which helped to earn repeat projects from the customer. It helped in creating a one-stop website for all of European Union’s immigrant population.
