APES (Actor-Process-Event-Scheme)
Overview
APES is a software tool that visualizes process all kinds of data and thereby transforms qualitative case study data into quantifiable data that can be used for a systematic comparative assessment of processes. The requirement was to draw a network diagram with respect to the matrix generated on the basis of involvement of Actors in the Events. The given matrix will be a square matrix with Actors in rows and Events in columns. From this square matrix we need to calculate a centrality index for each Actor. We have to use this centrality value to position the Actors in a radial target diagram. The centrality index values will be normalized and will range from 0 to 100. We should have circles at 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100. The Actors are then positioned on the radius according to their centrality values, minimizing the Euclidian distance between all pairs of Actors. An option to zoom the diagram helps to show within specific values that are put in through a dialog box.
