Good reasons to choose Magento:

1. Strong company backup and a popular platform:

Magento was founded in 2008 and purchased by eBay in 2011. Adobe acquired Magento in 2018. So Magento is in safe hands in terms of future product roadmap. Big brands like Nike, Ford, Samsung, Coca-Cola use Magento.

2. Open source:

Magento is an open source platform and can be downloaded for free. Since this is open source software, developers can modify the source code and add features and functionalities by creating or installing add-ons and plug-ins. There is a huge community of developers around the world working on it on a day to day basis, ensuring the ecommerce platform is up to date, secure & fast, and thereby backing up the future development of Magento.

3. Magento is highly scalable:

Magento is an ecommerce solution that is fit for small to very large enterprises. Be it a small business or a large brand selling internationally, Magento can scale to rising demands.  Magento’s community edition comes with features and functionalities right out of the box, and enterprise edition adds much more with high performance. With its ability to cope with thousands of orders per hour and perform well under the weight of huge traffic, there is no surprise that Magento is a leading shop solution.

4. Very user friendly:

Magento’s effective layout will help people in site navigation, helping them to find things they are looking for. Zoom-in capability, product reviews, multiple images of a product are some of the features that make Magento user friendly and inspires visitors to make a purchase and revisit the website. It also has powerful tools such as Up-Sells and Cross-Sells that encourages the user to order more products.

5. Large marketplace available for cool extensions:

Magento boasts the largest library of extensions in the world, with a large number of them being completely free. It is possible to supercharge the Magento code and power up the ecommerce website with new features and desired functionality by installing Magento extensions.

6. Built for SEO:

Magento adheres to best SEO practices and comes preloaded with SEO friendly features such as search engine friendly URLs, sitemaps, URL rewrites, meta tags, category structures and many more. Magento is SEO ready for your ecommerce store to appear at the top of the rankings, and also ensures that your site is search friendly.

7. Run Multiple Websites With One Common Backend:

Magento has a feature for handling multiple stores. You can even operate stores on multiple domains. While almost every other e-commerce platform – open source or otherwise – lets you have only one store on one system; with Magento, you can run multiple websites on the same common backend system. Every website can have distinctly different layouts and design with their own stores. You can even have different domains for each site and control all of them simultaneously through a single unified admin panel using Magento.

It also has other features such as multi-language, multi-currency support, product browsing, order management etc.

8. Security is always top priority.

Magento is constantly under scrutiny, with its developers looking for potential security flaws. If any are found, then patches are made available quickly and communicated amongst users. This gives you one less thing to worry about, knowing that security is being taken seriously. The implementation of SSL security and dedicated IP in Magento is easy. Customers can be confident that their personal information is confidential, and they can purchase from the store with a feeling of safety.

9. Integrated Payment facilities:

Magento provides different payment methods, that allows you to accept payments using different payment processors like PayPal, Authorize.net, Google etc. Customers can also pay through check/money order, credit cards, purchase order, bank transfer and many more.

10. Easy Administration:

Once a store is built, shop owners can begin managing their entire store from the admin panel. Administrators can edit product descriptions and prices, track orders, and process different types of payments. They can even manage newsletters through Magento backend.

In comparison with Magento 1, the admin panel in Magento 2 is much more user friendly and intuitive. It allows to easily navigate to all parts of the admin panel, find information easier and manage your store more efficiently.

11. Analytics and Reporting:

With Magento, your online store is already associated with Google Analytics, Google Base and Google Checkout. This helps you keep track of your site visitors. Another advantage of the Magento platform is the extensive reporting available for every aspect of the store which equips the admin with the provision to view reports on shopping cart abandonment, search terms used within your store, most viewed products, sales, shipping, tax, products, customers and much more.
